*Notice about 2/16 Testing: Unfortunately, severe weather across the U.S. has caused shipping delays, and as a result, samples did not arrive at the lab on time. To ensure quality, the lab is required to void samples that are received more than 48 hours past their collection date. It's highly recommended that you repeat the test in order to receive results. If you got tested on 2/16/21, you should be receiving a new kit in the mail this week, which will be shipped to the address you provided when you created your initial order, free of charge. Or you can stop by our next testing date at Word Up on 2/23/21.
Word Up Community Bookshop is proudly partnering with Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer's Office to become a pop-up COVID-19 self-testing site on the next few "Testing Tuesdays." Walk-up hours for testing were 12-4pm, at 2113 Amsterdam Avenue, at the corner of 165th St. We are working on scheduling more dates in the future.

What this means for you as customers and supporters:
-
Your online book orders will be packaged and shipped from a different location. Our website, www.WordUpBooks.com, continues to be open 24/7.
-
We are ending curbside pickup today, Friday, January 15th. If you have not yet picked up your books, we will remove them from the store and will be in touch about alternate ways to get them to you.
-
Most of Word Up's staff is working remotely for the next few weeks, as we both make way for testing and also allow the air in the store to clear. (Some staff and volunteers have been working remotely since March 2020!)
-
Word Up collective members are not required to be onsite, though those who choose to volunteer will be double-masked, face-shielded, and at least 6 feet away as much as possible.
-
Although you cannot pick up books for the foreseeable future from Word Up, you can still visit—to do a COVID-19 self-test! See more details on this below.
-
We are not taking any used book donations at this time.

-
Children ages 4-17 can also do the test, ONLY IF a parent/guardian is present.
-
You will not be able to pick up any book orders, or window shop, while you are waiting in line. We will, however, share with you some recommended reads in our windows, which you can check out on your phones or when you get back home.
